Cheat Sheet: War on Normal — Design Your Own Path

What does it mean to declare war on normal?

It means rejecting the default path society laid out for you. Go to school, get a job, climb the ladder, retire. That path was designed by other people for their benefit. War on Normal is the deliberate choice to build a life on your own terms. I made this choice 4 years ago. Best decision I ever made.

The default path is comfortable but expensive. You trade your 20s for security, your creativity for a paycheck, your freedom for a 401k. The alternative — solopreneurship — is harder but the upside is everything. Dan Koe calls this the Anti-Vision. Life Reinvention starts with seeing where the default leads.

How do you design your own path as a solopreneur?

Three steps: (1) Define what you are running from. Write your Anti-Vision. Where will you be in 12 months on the default path? That is your fuel. (2) Define what you are running toward. A specific lifestyle, income, and identity. Not vague — measurable. (3) Build a bridge. Your first offer, your first client, your first $1K month.

I designed my path around three values: autonomy, growth, and impact. Every decision filters through those. A client offer that pays $5K but chains me to 40 hours/week? Reject. A product that earns $2K but frees 30 hours/week? Accept. Use the Identity Shift Protocol to make the psychological transition stick.

What is the first action to break from the default?

Start before you are ready. Do not quit your job yet. Start your solopreneur project while employed. Dedicate 1 hour before work to your real path. Build an offer. Get one paying client. The momentum of that first sale will give you the courage to leap.

I saved $10K before quitting. But the real safety net was not the money. It was knowing I could make money on my own. The Quarterly Goal Reset framework helped me structure the transition.

Copy-Paste Prompt
You are a solopreneur coach. Help me design a life path that breaks from the default. First, ask me 3 questions to identify what I am running from. Then help me define 3 core values. End with a 30-day action plan to build momentum while keeping my day job.
💡 Coach channel: Use this prompt when you feel trapped in the default path but are not ready to quit. It builds a bridge, not a leap.
